Experience and Background:
Anji earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Utah. Her background is defined by a commitment to accuracy in diagnostics and providing the most effective treatment for a given diagnosis. She served as a specialty clinician for severe and persistent mental illness, teaching management and recovery of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. In this capacity, she also worked with families to learn problem-solving and communication skills to navigate living with such complex mental illnesses. Additionally, Anji has extensive experience with PTSD, delivering effective, evidence-based practices for recovery from trauma.
She uses her experience to inform her current practice to be grounded in research, while balancing client need and direction. She sees adults and older adults (65+) dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, grief, and crisis. She also works with loved ones and caregivers of individuals with severe mental illness.
Therapeutic Approach:
Anji utilizes a variety of cognitive-behavioral therapeutic (CBT) techniques. Motivational Interviewing (MI) facilitates engagement and client-focused goal setting, while core therapeutic elements, like thought change and behavior activation, are effective in treating depression, anxiety, and various other symptoms. She is certified in Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy to treat trauma. Psychoeducation for families emphasizes the importance of support systems in the recovery process.
Personal philosophy:
Anji makes it a priority to hear the voice of her clients as the experts in their own lives. She brings expert knowledge of research and skills to the recovery environment that complement her clients' own processes. She is there as a support and provides a guidance for exploration and practice, leading to long-term stability and wellness.
Personal Background:
In her free time, Anji enjoys the company of her family, crafting, puzzling, and relaxing to the TV. Whenever possible, she scouts out thrift and antique stores. She loves travel, whether by plane or road-tripping, and finds joy in discovering new foods and immersing herself in diverse cultures.
